Sports massage enhances recovery and helps in the prevention of injury in a number of ways. Massage increases blood flow to the muscles for as long as an hour after a massage. This extra blood flow will flush away more metabolic wastes during sporting activity. It also increases the nutrients and oxygen being brought to the muscles, assists repairs to muscles that may be damaged, controls inflammation and the pain associated with it.
Sports massage increases circulation, lymphatic flow and decreases edema. It improves the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the cells and assists in the removal of inflammatory by-products. It can increase joint mobility by decreasing adhesions caused by inflammation. Sports massage enhances
preparation for sporting activities reduces fatigue, sprains, strains, and dislocations.
Harmonising the Body & Mind
This is a hands-on therapy that incorporates Thai massage, Remedial massage and Stretch therapy. It is a full 90-120 minutes full body treatment. It is performed with the recipient fully clothed, lying on a comfortable futon mat.
It is important to advise the practitioner if menstruating, pregnant, or any medical/physical problems before the massage. It is best not to eat a heavy meal 2-3 hours before the massage. Clothing should be comfortable e.g. yoga pants, tracksuit pants, t-shirt. If you don't have one, Thai pants will be provided.
