REMEDIAL MASSAGE

CUPPING

Balance your Chi

Remedial or deep tissue massage treats tense or damaged muscles, tendons and joints affected by stress, heavy or repetitive physical activity and injury.  Remedial and deep tissue massage involves intensive work on the muscles and uses techniques such myofascial release, trigger point therapy and mobilisation.  It supports and speeds up the body’s own repair mechanisms.  Massage improves your circulation which aids the removal of metabolites and chemicals from the body.  It also assists in reducing inflammation. The treatment can be gentle or strong.  Reported benefits include relaxation, pain relief, improved circulation which facilitates the removal of toxins, calms the nervous system and tones and relaxes muscle resulting in improved joint mobility.

Cupping (Eastern and Western)

In cupping, a flame is used to take the oxygen out of a glass cup to create a vacuum or suction effect when it is applied to the body.  Cups are applied to areas where there is local pain or appears to be stasis. When the blood and lymph circulation is sluggish, waste by-products start to build up, causing stagnation in the system.  Cupping moves vital energy to areas of pain and draws blood stagnation out.  Round marks are sometimes left after cupping, and these usually disappear after 3-7 days.  Cupping is good for tired aching muscles, common colds, sacroiliac pain, general back pain, digestive problems, cellulite, scar tissues, muscular-skeletal conditions and menstrual problems.  Cups are fantastic for detoxifying, tightening and toning tissue.

SPORTS MASSAGE

Enhance your Performance

Sports massage enhances recovery and helps in the prevention of injury in a number of ways.  Massage increases blood flow to the muscles for as long as an hour after a massage.   This extra blood flow will flush away more metabolic wastes during sporting activity.  It also increases the nutrients and oxygen being brought to the muscles, assists repairs to muscles which maybe damaged, controls inflammation and the pain associated with it.  Sports massage increases circulation, lymphatic flow and decreases oedema. It improves the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the cells and assists in the removal of inflammatory by-products. It can increase joint mobility by decreasing adhesions caused by inflammation.  Sports massage enhances preparation for sporting activities, reduces fatigue, sprains, strains and dislocations.

MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

Boost your Immune System

The Lymphatic or “Lymph” System is the garbage disposal system of the body and is often referred to as the “second circulatory system”. The Lymphatic System transports excess interstitial fluid out of the tissues and back to the bloodstream.  Manual lymphatic drainage is a gentle, rhythmic and light massage of the skin, which stimulates the lymph nodes to open and drain.  It provides a true balance and flow within the body, and is very relaxing and non-aggressive. Manual lymphatic drainage massage strengthens the immune system, reduces swelling, cramps and tension.  Women who have breast surgery involving the lymph glands often benefit from this form of massage.  A typical session will involve drainage of the neck, abdomen, trunk and extremities.
